We’re ambitious filmmaker’s who want to make great films!

Project Statement:
First things first. I’m not in the business of taking advantage of people, nor will that EVER be the case. Over the last few years I’ve worked with incredible filmmaking talent, who have become close friends. We all share a similar passion for this industry. We all want to carve out a successful career in making films. We all trust each other and believe in what we’re trying to achieve.

This means that when opportunities are presented that enable us to get together and get out there and make a short film, on no budget – we just do it. The project will NEVER be a commercial one. If the no budget film manages to collect any financial reward at film festivals etc, the money will be distributed EVENLY amongst those involved (i.e. crew & cast). The no budget films I’m involved with will always be released for public viewing for FREE.

So there.

The idea behind ‘That Day’
An opportunity has presented itself, which means we can get out there and film a no budget short film in February. Namely, Philip Bloom. Philip has some free time in February and wants to DP on more narrative driven films. Having DP’d on my last film Host, Philip was keen on getting involved with another project of mine in 2012.

I’ve got a month and a half to write the screenplay (haven’t started yet) and get this film successfully through pre-production. I like to make things easy for myself. The story is in early stages of development and fortunately I have the backbone already in place for what I think is going to be an interesting short film.

We need a crew and actors
I hope to be working with most of my current team (will be contacting them soon to pose the question), but we’ll more than likely need more as this is quite an ambitious project, to say the least. I don’t like to do things by half measures.

These are the areas I think we’ll need the most help with:

PRODUCTION DESIGN
COSTUME
DIGITAL MEDIA HANDLER
CONTINUITY
GRIP
STORYBOARDS

I’ll also be looking after the casting process. At the moment, the film needs 5x adult actors (35-45), and 5x younger actors (12-15). For any actors getting involved with this film, I’ll edit together a showreel featuring your performance in this film (for free). You’ll also be given the film to use as a showreel piece.

Interested in getting involved?

If you would like to help out with this film and become a part of The Filmmaker’s Journey team, please do feel free to email me direct here dannylacey@stadamedia.co.uk

In the event that we get an over whelming response, please don’t be disappointed if you don’t make it onto the team. I need the crew to be small and capable of shooting in a fast, guerilla style way.

Keep your eye on the new ‘That Day’ Facebook page for lots of behind the scenes updates. There’s also a new section on this website, check it out here.

Remember, we’re filmmaker’s who just want to get out there and make stuff happen!
