In a few weeks I’ll be heading over to the Isle of Man to make ground on pre-production of my short movie idea ‘Crash’. Actually, it’s more of a trailer for a movie than a short movie, but for the purpose of this blog I’ll refer to it as a short movie.
I know there are writers and directors that read this blog that are in a similar positions to myself. We’re at the beginning of our movie making careers – the bit where the most mistakes are sure to be made. The idea of this blog is to share and explore those mistakes (less mistakes, more experiences I guess) and to gain valuable knowledge from them as we develop through the various projects.
My inspiration for this comes from a film maker friend of mine called Chris Jones. He is currently going through a very important part of his movie making career and is taking everyone along for the journey on his blog. A short movie that he made on 35mm film has been shortlisted for this years Oscars. He’ll find out if his film has made it to the final nominations this Thursday. His blog has been incredibly inspirational and I’ve learnt so much from just flicking through the many pages on the site http://www.chrisjonesblog.com/. He really is sharing EVERYTHING with us as he makes his way to the Oscars!!
My point is, I wanted to do something similar to document my film making journey with the idea of sharing as much experience as possible – the ups, the downs, the good, the bad.
‘Crash’ is going to be my first major short movie project and so I want to document as much of the process as possible. So, I’ve uploaded the latest version of the screenplay for you to look at. Hopefully it will give you a better idea of the premise of the movie trailer.
