Danny Lacey (Director & Entrepreneur)

I’m just one guy chasing my dreams and sharing the journey

It’s 2009, I’m in my thirties and I’d spent most of my professional life talking between records on the radio. It was time for me to finally chase my childhood dreams, I wanted to make movies.

When it all began I spent hours looking around the internet searching for videos on how to make movies, back then there was very little online. It was at that moment I made a pledge to share absolutely everything I experience on my little filmmaking adventure in the hope it inspires and motivates other like minded individuals of all ages and from all backgrounds. So, the Filmmaker’s Journey was born.

Since 2009 I’ve written, produced and directed five short films (Angel of the night, Love Like Hers, HostThat Day and Shadows) and launched a successful media production company (Stada Media). Being CEO of a growing company has taken up so much of my time over the last few years which has meant a dramatic drop in my filmmaking activities. Until now.

First and foremost, I’m a director. I love working with actors, it’s absolutely what I want to do with my filmmaking career. I just happen to do a little writing, producing, cinematography, editing and so on. I think it’s incredibly important for all filmmakers to have experience and knowledge in all departments.

Let’s get one thing straight – I’m not teaching! I’m merely sharing everything I’m experiencing as I learn my trade, the good the bad and everything in between. Whatever you see and hear on this site, don’t take it as gospel. Always do your own research and make your own decisions based on gut feelings.

Feel free to reach out and let me know how you’re getting on with your filmmaking journey, or if you have any questions. Email me directly at dannylacey@stadagroup.co.uk and I’ll do my best to get back to you promptly.

Let me know what you think of the website, anything else we could be doing?

Another thing, I type just like I talk so please don’t get too hung up on any grammatical incorrectness or the odd typo – I’ll do my best.
